Undergone Total Knee Replacement, Extreme Pain In Inner Thigh. What Could It Be?
I had a total knee replacement. My leg was about six inches too far out and had to be straightened to put the new knee in . The knee is fine; but there is extreme pain in my inner thigh and seems to cross over to my outer hip. I cannot have an MRI (pace-maker) and my doctor and the PTs are at a loss to fix me. A lady at church suggested my inguinal ligament, Could she be right or ???
As your knee joint with extreme varus angulation has been corrected to neutral alignment (straight line), there will be more stretch on the inner aspect of the thigh & knee soft tissues. This stretch could be the cause for your pain.
I don't think that the inguinal ligament has to do anything with your present pain.
Please follow the below mentioned guidelines -
* Rest to the inflammed muscles and avoid movements that put more strain on them * Ice packing once in 3 hours to alleviate the pain * local application of analgesic / muscle relaxant gels * moist heat fomentation for relaxing the taut muscles * physiotherapy for stretching & strengthening the medial thigh muscles
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
