Uvula, Tonsils Swollen, With White Spots, Cough, Fever, Inflammed Throat, Strep. Necessity Of Throat Culture?
Hi! Today I m almost certain that I m getting a throat culture . Unless my doctor can diagnose me without it. My uvula and tonsels are both swollen, there are white spots on them, I m coughing, have a fever , and my throat is enflamed. If my doctor knows all of this, is it necessary for a throat culture if I know I have strep?
The most common cause of throat infection is streptococcus infection. It usually responds to commonly used antibiotics especially penicillin derivatives like amoxycillin or augmentin. Throat culture is required if you do not respond to the treatmenrt.
