Randomly throughout the night i was scratching and sleep became uncomfortable. When i woke up i realized that i had tiny red bumps on my forearm, wrist , above the eye, back and side of my abdomen. Can it be scabies or shingles? the itchy is really intense and the more are scratch the worst it gets.
Heelo, Welcome to healthcare magic. From your history and description, scabies is a possibility. Shingles, however has a different presentation and this could not be shingles. The other possibility is an insect bite reaction to bed bugs. Scabies generally spreads from one person to another. It generally spares the face and could involve genitalia also. The symptoms are more gradual and does not develop overnight. So I would consider the possibility of an insect bite reaction first. You could apply calamine based lotion 2-3 times a day. You could take an antihistamine like benadryl at bedtime. Look for bed bugs/ insects in your bedding and room. You could use an insect repellant and disinfect your room. Hope this helps you. Take care.
