Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

There are some medicines that can help reduce the craving for alcohol. You can visit a psychiatrist and discuss the option of putting your father on baclofen or acamprosate. Baclofen would be a better choice in my opinion. The dose has to be gradually built up. While your father is on the medicine, keep on trying to convince him to mend his ways and see a doctor.

Best wishes.
