What Are The Early Signs Of Pregnancy?

Hi! I slipped up with my boyfriend and the condom broke! I took a day after pill and was perfectlly fine. Then I went to a party a couple months later and got a little bit drunk with some family and friends. I woke up and saw some guy so I took another day after pill to be safe. This was about a month ago and i took the pill the next day. I had my period about 3 days after i took the pill and it seemed like a normal period. My period was april 15th and usually lasts about 4 days and did about 4 as usuall. I started an HCG Drops Diet on May 1st being that I am 16 years old, 5'6, and 161Lb., not sure if that was a good idea. Now it is May 4th and I have been having lower abdominal cramps but are mild cramps. I don't remember having these befor starting the diet although im not 100% sure. I kinda feel hungry too. HCG as you may no has pregnantal hormones. So my question to you is why am I expieriencing cramps? Is this an early sign of pregnancy? Should I wait it out til May 15th to the 18th to see if I get my period? What should I do? I am terribly frightened!

Hallow Baby,

You are confused on two queries. Let me answer them to you one by one.

You had one voluntary sex with an accidental condom tear. The second one you do not know, but thought it could be unprotected sex. However, in both the incidences you have taken emergency contraceptive pills within 24 hours. These pills are known to have high success rate if taken well in time, which you have. Moreover, you had your menses. So you need not be worried about the pregnancy.

Cramps in abdomen does not fall into the symptoms of early pregnancy. In fact any pain in lower abdomen, particularly colicky pain is a bad sign during early pregnancy. It suggests abortion, ectopic pregnancy rupture, etc. untoward effects.

The symptoms of early pregnancy are missed periods, nausea and vomiting, frequent urination and breast symptoms which include engorgement with tenderness of the breasts, darkening of nipples and areola with widening of areola and secretions through the nipples. You are not having any of these.

I feel you should not be worried about the chances of pregnancy. However, if you want to confirm, you may get urine pregnancy test and/or ultrasonography performed 8-10 days after missed period (if you miss it).

The cramps in abdomen may not be due to HCG drops since they are not known to have this side effect. However, if you are following HCG diet also, it may make you feel week and cause some symptoms. Moreover, HCG diet being more rich in proteins, may cause discomfort in stomach.

I hope, You have been sufficiently explained.
