What Are The Meanings Of Severe Degenerative Disc Disease, Degenerative Disc Disease And Loss Of Disc Signal?

Had MRI. What is the difference between severe degenerative disc disease and just degenerative disc disease? This has changed for me over the last year. From regular to severe. Seems like a quick pace. Also, what does it mean to have loss of disc signal? Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to HCM,

Degenerative disc disease refers to wear changes in the individual discs of the spine .
Severe DDD which causes more degree of pain and clinical picture. Conditions like herniated disc abnormal bulge or breaking open of a spinal disc,
Spinal stenosis, the narrowing of the spinal canal camera, the open space in the spine that holds the spinal cord.
Signal loss is sign of disc degeneration. This occurs due to the dehydration of the tissue cause weak.. In MRI image no signal seen.

Wish you speedy recovery

Thank you
