Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I would like to know how to lower blood pressure, I just went to urgent care for coughing, they said its viral bronchitis, I usually have blood pressure around 110/78 but today it was 140/86. I'm currently going to gym, I eat most of the time a good diet. I'm 5"9 and weight is 206, I'm in post menopause, and have started a diet to loose weight, but I got scared when the Dr. Said when I'm well to have my blood pressure checked again. Please help on what I can do to get it to where I used to have it.
The most effective way for lowering blood pressure is weight lose and salt restriction. You are on the right way, exercise regularly, eat healthy diet with low sodium and your blood pressure will decrease. But I would advise you to check your blood pressure when your symptoms gone away. It is possible you had an episodic rise in blood pressure. In this case there is nothing to worry. Anyway healthy lifestyle will prevent further problems.
Hope I could help you
Wishing you good health
