What Are The Potential Side Effects Of Steroid And What Are The Other Solutions For Pars Planitis?
Hi, My girlfriend was recently diagnosed with pars planitis. Since being diagnosed it has become worse, causing her Dr. to prescribe steroid eye drops. We re concerned with the potential side effects and the possibility of advancing to steroid injections. We saw that medical Marijuana is sometimes used for other auto immune disease symptoms. Would this also apply to pars planitis? We re interested in other possible solutions. Please advise. Thank you for your time! David

The amount of steroids she is getting is miniscule. Side effects overall are not possible. The side effects would only be on the eye. There is lowered immunity and if she has herpes infection of the eye this is bad.
There is likely an increased risk of cataract formation but this would potentially be the case if the eye weren't treated. Indeed, there would be worse consequences if it were not treated.
