What Are The Risks Of Having Epidural During Labor?

Hello, I am 7 months pregnant and getting worried about having an epidural. I have a fear of having something stuck into my back, and I also was diagnosed thru an MRI that I have arthritis and L3 & L4 bulging discs. Are there any risks of having an epidural with my condition during labor?
