Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Doctor, My dad (68 years old- had undergone cardiac By pass surgery(CABG) in 2006) had suffered from community acquired Pneumonia since a month ago and the X-rays diagnosed to have mild pleural effusion. He got admitted in hospital for an IV floxacin derivative for a week's time follwed by the same in oral meication for a week and later the X-Ray still revealed to have the inflamation in lungs not subsided in total with 50% still remaining. The pulmonologist had prescribed not AKT3 tablet to be taken for a month's time.
I am just wondering if you could please help to throw some linght as how AKT3 works in this situation (mechanisam of action) as well as it's composition please.
Dear Your doctor is treating Pulmonary Tuberculosis. He has already given Broad spectrum Antibiotics for sufficient time so he started on AKT3. Once started your father should take it till your doctor review him after one month. AKT 3 is a combination of three drugs. Isoniazid , Rifampicin and Ethambutol. Isoniazid can cause peripheral neuropathy and Ethqnbutol retinopathy but the doctor knows all about this In my opinion you should fallow instructions of your doctor.
