Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have been taking Levlen ed for the past 3 months now, and have skipped the period tablets for the whole time. 10 days ago I got married and starting having sex for the first time. I have been consistently taking the pill since. 8 days ago I started getting cramps and bleeding, neither of which have stopped since. I ve heard both can be a side effect of Levlen; how long can I expect these to last if that s the case?
Levlen is a combined (contains two hormones ) oral contraceptive medication. Oral hormonal contraceptives can sometimes.
Though hormonal contraceptives can be used continuously if advised by your doctor, this is normally for a 3 month period then a break is taken for 7 days. You should consider taking break from the medication for 7 days then restart.
The bleeding would normally last for 7 to 14 days but if it continues then you should see your doctor for an assessment. There are medications that can decrease the bleeding-norethisterone
I hope this helps
