Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been prescribed VIMPAT. What are the interactions with other drugs. I have had several small seizures since having a stroke, The info on the package says that I may have dizziness and perhaps problems to my heart. I am concerned about the drug. Can you give any info?
Dizziness is a common side effect of the drug Vimpat (lacosamide). But cardiac problems are rare and usually occur in less than 1% of individuals taking the drug. Regular ECG readings will certainly help in detecting cardiac side effects. Regarding drug interactions, I would like to know whether you have concern about any specific drug. In general, Vimpat is metabolised predominantly by liver and has interactions with other drugs that are metabolised in the same way. Hope this helps. Thanks.
