Dear Gwendolyn,
Hi & Welcome.
Xarelto (
Rivaroxaban) is an anticlotting (|blood thinning) medication used to prevent clots in blood vessels and patients suffering from atrial
fibrillation.
Its important side effects include bleeding from the skin, nose, gums, eyes, stomach, an operation,
urinary tract, etc.
Based on the history, the given drug seems to have caused bleeding into the eye (
subconjunctival hemorrhage) apparently due to its large dose.
The recommended dose of Xaral is one 15 mg tablet twice a day for the first 3 weeks, then after 3 weeks, its 20 mg tablet is to be taken once a day.
In view of the above you need to reduce the dose of Xarel to 20 mg or 15 mg ONCE daily after consulting your treating doctor.
You also need to be examined by the ophthalmologist to rule out other causes of bleeding in the eyes.
Hope this will help.
A feed back is appreciated.
