What Are The Side Effects Of Htcz 25 Mg And Potassium Citrate Taken For Kidney Stones?

Hi I'm worried about length of time and side effects of htcz 25 mg and potassium citrate for kidney stones. I have developed a heel spur and my feet, lower back and now arms are aching and stiff quite often. I'm 54 now and feel like these drugs sped up my aging process, ruined my skin tone and muscle mass and feel like and old out of shape person. Also have nighttime leg cramps and have really rough time getting up in am Thought all this was related to a statin had been using for years but even after eliminating that and risking plaque buildup I don't feel any better or healthier. Do you think I can wean off to see if helps or too risky? Thank you for your time and patience!

Hi,

I have gone through your query.
Since you were diagnosed with renal stones, you were put on HTCZ for forced diuresis. As this causes Hypokalemia you were given potassium supplement.
Considering your symptoms there is electrolyte imbalance and dehydration in your body.
Long term use of it is not advised. I advise you to go a electrolyte check and discontinue the HTCZ and potassium. Do a repeat Ultrasound of KUB to see the status of stone. Keep yourself well hydrated. Consult a nephrologist for other methods of removal of kidney stones like ESWL.
You haven't mentioned the size of stone.

Do consider a positive feedback as a credit to my work. Let me know if you have any further questions.
