What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Diltiazem?

I started taking Diltiazem for atrial fibrillation about a month ago. I find I am intolerant, impatient and uninterested in what people say to me. I have considered quitting several activities I have been involved with because I find the conversations and opinions of others annoying. Is this related to diltiazem?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Diltiazem is not known to cause mood disorders.

Your symptoms are suggestive of mild mental depression of recent onset and, unrelated to Diltiazem.

A regular course of anti-depressants will restore your mood to normalcy.

Consult your Psychiatrist and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and will prescribe the advised drugs in appropriate doses.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.

Take care
