Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What are the symptoms of Vitamin D overdose.......I have been taking 5000 units per day for about a month...all of a sudden I started having terrible pains in my left upper abdomen. I stopped taking the vitamins 3 days ago and the pains have subsided quite a bit.
Hypervitaminosis D can occur but it is extremely rare. The usual side effects are poor appetite, nausea vomiting, weakness, frequent urination and kidney problems also may occur. Most of it is due to higher calcium levels in the body. Please visit your doctor to check for Calcium levels an USG abdomen
