Hello, I am 25-year-old female. Six days ago I swam to the bottom of a lake headfirst (probably only about 12-15 feet) and just as soon as I reached the bottom, I heard my right ear pop. When I surfaced I felt very disoriented, as if I were sideways when I was upright. Unwisely I then poured alcohol/peroxide mixture into my ear which cause immediate and severe pain. My hearing has been off in both ears since then. I saw a doctor in an urgent care office the day after it happened and he only prescribed me an antibiotic after looking at my ear and concluding that my eardrum was really red but that he did not see a hole. I am worried that I may be experiencing permanent hearing loss. Any suggestions other than just going to see an ENT?
