What Are The Upcoming Complications With Macular Hole?

Hi. I am a 63 year old female, and I've just been diagnosed with a macular hole by my opthamologist, who has referred me to a retina specialist. I have an apt to see the specialist, but after research and conversation with a friend who has had the procedure, I'm very tempted to just deal with the hole. What is the worst outcome if nothing is done, and what generally is the length of progression? Thank you

Hi...
Thanks for the query..
Visual prognosis depends on the stage of the macular hole and the duration it is present..and also the visual acuity at the time of presentation..
If the presenting vision is good and the hole is partial there are good chances of visual recovery...
Progression is slow...
Do consult the retina specialist who can give you better information regarding that..
Take care..
