Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
back pain in a 27 yr old female, 5 3 130 lb, shortness of breath when lying down. Thought I had precordial catch syndrome when I was younger from the age of 10 or maybe younger. This pain seems to be somewhat different in that it has lasted 12 hrs, but seems to be worsening.
Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM. My understanding is, precordial catch syndrome is unlikely at this age. You haven't yet specified the location of your chest pain. If it is in upper back (which I presume it to be), I would like to know whether you have fever and/or chill and rigor. If that is so, pneumonia must be ruled out. In the absence of any lung or lower respiratory pathology, gastroesophageal reflux disease, hiatus hernia, peptic ulcer disease or pancreatitis may present in this manner. The later two are less likely. Detailed history and clinical examination would rule out these possibilities. You may also need some investigations to come to a diagnosis. I think you should consult your local physician to get yourself examined clinically. Regards, Dr. Kaushik
