What Cause Stringy After Taking Medication For Heart Attack?
Friend is on Effient for heart attack stent. Today he is bleeding from his mouth. It is stringy. His DR has told him to stop med for now. He is a month shy of being on the drug for one year at which point he can stop the med. Any idea what would cause stringy? Thanks.
Hi welcome to HCM After stenting, patient is given with anti platelet drugs which prevent formation of thrombus ( blood clot) in coronary arteries. These drugs has got a side effect of increased bleeding tendency ( from any part of body),most commonly from nose or mouth. This is the reason for bleeding in your friend. First thing to do is to stop these drugs ( aspirin, clopidogrel etc.) Titration of drug doses is necessary. Tor the same review with your cardiologist/ physician
Thank you
