Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. S. Samanta's Response
Hi, If I were your treating Doctor for this case of an incisional hernia, I would come up with following notes:
1. avoid gaining weight and over-drinking / over-eating and coughs
2. take caution not to get infected or frictions in the area
3. take some abdominal band / strap in the region so that the hernia does not enlarge!
4. avoid straining / some abdominal movements (consult physiotherapist for demonstration!) and do other muscle strengthening exercises
5. do follow the swelling preferably with serial USG or by noting its size!
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
