What Causes A Red Swollen Lump In The Crotch Area?
Its kind of embarrassing, but I have a big, red, swollen bump in my crotch area. It is very painful if light pressure is applied to it. The hair follicles dont seem to be swollen around the area, but two pores seem to be and they kind of merge to form a big bump. It has no signs of pus and I'm currently been on accutane for about 5 months for acne. I'm afraid it might be staph. Please help me.
1.Its infective aetiology, most possible cause is hair follicular infection with collection within causing pain. 2.The remedy for this kind of lesions - do not squeeze or scratch the area / lump as you will complicate the lesion, clean the area with antiseptic liquid. 3.Try wearing soft clothing which will not irritate the area. 4.Apply local anti inflammatory cream for localised effect. 5.A course of antibiotic will be needed in small lumps, in larger ones a small incision and drainage might be necessary. Good luck.
