What Causes A Small Knot Under The Breast In A Child?

My daughter just turned 9 a couple weeks ago and has been complaining that her left breast is sore. When I felt of the area I found a small knot under each nipple. Is there reason for concern? We have also had issues of her stomach bothering, but after going so far as to have a stomach mri there was nothing there to explain the problems.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

This condition is absolutely normal for a girl child in the pre-adolescent age. it is called Thelarche.

It is the normal growth of the breast bud. no need to give any drug. If the pain is there you can give one or two doses of paracetamol. That's all. No need to worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Rajmohan, Pediatrician
