Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM .
Read and reviewed your query and health concerns.
Your roommate seems to suffer from -IBS with Celiac disease.
Dear, though tests are negative on colonsocopy, terrible pain under right ribs, with bloating and constipation- indicates-acuteness and aggressiveness of the IBS in her case.
Other cause of-Crohn's disease needs to be ruled out-as this may cause adhesions from aggressive intramural and transmural inflammation, causing adhesions with nearby bowels.
But clinically don't think of adhesions-as the recent colonoscopy and upper GI are normal. Its mostly IBS-with accompanied ?Cholecystitis with Bileacid sludge or gall stone, which is causing bloated abdomen and gases are mainly due to Constipation, the Cause of which needs to be ruled by -proctoscopy by Surgeon to fix any cause leading to ano-rectal spasm.
Do's Suggested-
BRAT diet-
Antibiotics with anti-protozoalx 10 days.
Sporlac- a probiotic- 1 x times a day x 2-6 weeks.
Bland diet with small loads.
Butter Milk
Enzar-digestant enzymes.
Consult Surgeon and rule out Gall stones/ or for bile acid sludge -missed out till now.
Gradual upgrading diet with high fiber-with prebiotic treatments with apple cider vinegar- over 4-10 weeks would give long remissions.
Adding yoghurt helpings 2 times a day would prevent recurrences, due to stabilization of bacterial flora, which is the essence of controlling-adhesions due to recurring acute IBS attacks, induced from spicy /unhealthy diet.
Rule out other causes with GI specialist.

Hope this would help you to plan further care of this complex illness of yours.
