What Causes Abnormal Bowel Movement After Taking Metrnidazole And Ciproflaxin?
I am on metrnidazole 500mg and ciproflaxin hcl 750 mg for a bacterial infection. I have notice that my bowel movement is weird. I go at least 3 times a day and when I look at it, it looks like loose fish food a thebotton of a fish tank. I dont have cramps and no gas I just poop very soft and it also has like white dots, Today is the last dose should I stop taking this medication or is it normal for it to happen?
Both metronidazole and ciprofloxacin can cause changes in bowel movements, including diarrhea or loose stools. This is a common side effect of these medications and is usually temporary. The white dots you are seeing in your stool could be undigested medication or mucus, which can also be a common occurrence during a course of antibiotics.
Since today is your last dose, it is generally recommended to complete the full course of antibiotics. This is to ensure that the infection is fully treated and to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
