What Causes Abnormal Heart Rate?

Hello, my name is Maxine and I am 18 years old. I recently went to hospital for suspected appendicitis ( turned out to be a grumbling appendix ) and the nurse measured my heart rate twice through out the day. My heart rate was 215.. Then dropped to 90, then straight back up to 200.. I had done nothing but sitting on my hospital bed, no exercise, nothing.. Is a heart rate of 200 odd dangerous ? I also have bad palpitations.. Please can you give me a clue as to what is wrong..? Thank you

Hello,Maxine,i have gone through history and details you gave in your question.I would like to know whether ECG was done during spell of heart of 200 or not?It is likely that you may be getting short spells of SVT.Though it can be proved only after documenting on ECG.I have a simple suggestion that whenever you have palpitation rush to ER and get an ECG done.Alternatively you may under go for Holter monitoring for 24 hours,it will pick up short spells of fast heart beat and tell us whether it is SVT or otherwise.I would be interested to know your reports. My best wishes.
