Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
okay i really didn t want to have to ask it myself but i couldn t find out online...im 17 and a male and recently for the past few days i have wet the bed i wake up of course while its happening but not before. i have never had this problem before i would always wake up if i had to pee. I am wondering if it is because of the melatonin i have been taking before bed? though i know the dose is a recommended i think its what like one 3mg pill before you go to bed but i have been taking 3-4 because it doesn t work on me till bout there, i know its muscle relaxant and i can really put you into a deep sleep. is it possible that it is not allowing me to be able to wake up on my own or possibly even relaxing my muscles so much that i just am urinating when my bladders full cause my body thinks its what im supposed to be doing? this problem has never occurred and im pretty sure i do not have that Enuresis or whatever. I m quite convinced its the melatonin just preventing me from getting up but i still just want a straight up answer, thank you.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Development of symptoms of bed wetting at the age of 17 for the first time is not due to enuresis. Melatonin is the most probable cause of the symptoms. Consult your treating doctor for reviewing the dosage of melatonin. At the same time a micturating cystography for assessing the micturation process and to detect any abnormality in the process. The procedure will be done and assessed by an urologist.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
