What Causes Bitterness In Tongue After Tonsillectomy?
A few weeks after a tonsillectomy I notice a change in my taste buds. Food tastes bitter when it moves to the back of my tongue. Sweets are really bitter, especially chocolate. Is this normal and will and when will it get back to normal. It has been 5 months since my surgery. I am 76 years old. Does this have anything to do with it? Thank you
dear after surgery Your ninth cranial nerve (the glossopharyngeal nerve) is responsible for taste in the posterior third of your tongue. It is also responsible for innervating parts of the back of your throat. After surgery, this nerve may be disrupted somewhat, and this can cause problems with taste.please consult your Ent surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly. I think I answered to your question if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
