What Causes Bleeding, Cramps And Clots After Mirena Removal?

I just got a mirena iud removed two weeks ago. I've been bleeding moderately ever since. Yesterday I started passing very large clots and bleeding heavier with more intense cramping. Should I be going to the emergency room? Or what could be happening?

Hi,

Mirena is hormonal contraceptive and is likely to cause menstrual irregularities during its use. After removal of the IUD, it takes a few months to get normal periods to resume. You can consult your doctor for excessive bleeding. Otherwise, wait patiently for periods to be normal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
