Hi. I had a baby 13 weeks ago. Ive since then gone back on the pill. It seems wen me & my partner have sex i start bleeding, this has happened 3 times now & its between cycles. In the past 8 weeks ive been bleeding 6 times now. After reading things online im really worried it could be something serious
According to your history the possible causes for your complaint are: - Post coital bleeding can be seen due to local causes like cervical erosion, cervical polyps, etc. - Pelvic infection leading to to erythematous vaginal mucosa can also lead to spotting. - Rarely malignant local genital lesions can also lead to postcoital bleeding.
By clinical examination and investigations like pap smear, and if needed cervical biopsy the possible cause of the problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly. In case of pelvic infection, you may need systemic and local antibiotics. Cervical erosion may need cryotherapy and in case of polyp removal of the polyp may be indicated.
