Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am 43 year old white male. I am 5foot 10inches and weigh 14 stone in weight. I take moderate exercise five times a week. I noticed today that I had red blood in one stool. I had to strain quite hard to start the motion and it was this stool that appeared to heve blood and a mucus type liquid mixed in the stool. As the motion eased none of the other stools seemed to have any red or mucus. I have had previous motions were I have had blood on the tissue paper after wiping. I had a colonoscopy 20 months ago and all was normal. Can you advise me please? Is it likely; given previous examinations that this occurence is due to straining? I have been to toilet again today and no red blood or mucus.
It's likely that you have a hemorrhoid due to your habitual constipation. or it's possible that the hard stool might have caused an anal fissure. But you also have a mucus, so proctitis is also likely. You need to take stool softner in the first place and a perry tal exam with anoscopy, in case it's not painful.
