i injured my coccyx about 5 yrs ago. Every so often it starts to hurts but the pain goes away. About 6 months ago I injured my tendon in my hip - I was on Levaquim and prednisone - had walking pneumonia in October 2010 was in the hospital for 21 days. So I have been dealing with the torn tendon and now my coccyx is acting up. I'm a bit concern cause on Monday I had blood in my stool. Never had this before. Should I monitor this? Just need a bit of advice
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Injured coccyx, torn hp ligament are both irritating and debilitating conditions as they make a lots of trouble hence I would advise you the following: Get examination, per-rectal digital palpation of the coccyx and it tenderness still persistent, it is better to get it removed if the trial of local steroid injection fails. Blood in stool needs additional ano-proctoscopy and colonoscopy to know the exact cause hence can be treated specifically. Take laxative. Try sitz bath in a tub with warm water which helps for bleeding per-rectum as well as for the painful coccyx and ligament problems. Take painkillers with anti-inflammatory properties as needed.
