Bloodshot eyes following excercise. The eyes are bloodshot and dry. Could it just be dehydration? Or what?
I am a 69 yr old male. 94 kg 5'11". I go to a gym about 3 times a week, do 30 mins aerobics and a circuit of weights etc in an effort to keep my ticker healthy, my weight down and depression at bay. I have tried to research this topic before but with no explantion so far.
Yes , the redness in the eyes ( in the absence of any other eye symptoms such as pain/watering or discharge) could be due to dry eyes. Dry eyes can occur due to increased evaporation of the existing tear film due to excessive heat/ humidity/ air conditioning. Please use OTC available lubricating eye drops such as Refresh tears/Systane/Genteal eye drops, 1 drop 4 times a day. If the redness persists even after 4 weeks of using these drops then do get your eyes examined by an ophthalmologist.
