What Causes Burnt Tar Smelled Urine During Pregnancy?
i am 4 months pregnant and i have a burnt tar smell to my urine. on top of that the day before the crease under my stomach, by my hips, on a small part of my stomach, and on my parts of my vagi area are all red. its hot to the touch and very painful. I have been putting cream on it but it wont go away. what could cause this?
It sounds like you have a fungal infection of your vagina and surrounding skin. It is probably discharge from your vagina that is making your urine smell funny.
Cream, if it is an antifungal cream (the main ingredient should have -azole at the end, like miconazole or clotrimazole) is the correct treatment for your vagina and vulva, but on your skin folds I find powder works better. You can buy antifungal powder at the drugstore or chemist- it is used to treat athlete's foot. Just buy one that the main ingredient has -azole at the end and apply it twice a day, especially after your shower.
None of these external products are a risk to the baby. I hope my advice is helpful and that you feel better soon.
Best wishes, Dr. Brown
