What Causes Cervix Pain After Taking Mirena?

I have had the mirena for about 2 years and recently I have been feeling really sharp pains. It feels like it's coming from my cervix. It also hurts when I am sexually active. My boyfriend said sometimes he can't feel the strings. Should I get it looked at?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi,

If your mirena is displaced from your proper position all these problems can arise. I think best thing will be to do an ultrasound examination of lower abdomen.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
