Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 32 yo f. I have been drinking over 60 oz water a day. Wake up dehydrated but feel like I'm retaining water. Thirsty a lot. Tired. And down, emotional. Have been on low carb diet for a week, but have had problems with water in the past being thirsty and feeling dehydrated even if I am getting plenty.
Hi Thank you for posting your query in HCM. I had gone through your question I understand your concerns. The most side effect of diets include dehydration that occurs due to low carbohydrates intake. Every cell in the body depends on glucose for energy, when there is less glucose which occurs due to intake of low carbohydrates, fat burns to give energy. Body goes in to ketosis state , blood wil have increased levels of ketone bodies, body uses more water to flush out these ketones causing dehydration in the body. i would advise you to have plenty of water and avoid low carbohydrates diets. Have a healthy and balanced diet. Get regular physical activity. Hope i have answered your question if you have further questions i will be happy to help.
