What Causes Delayed Or No Periods?

I am currently taking Marvelon 28 Contraceptive Pill and at the moment am taking the placebo tablets. I have been taking the placebos for 5 day now and still have not had a period. I dont think I could be pregnant as I have not had sex during this cycle. What others reasons could cause a delayed period/no period?
