What Causes Difficult Urination?

I have been working out side in extreme heat.I know that I am dehydrated. Even though I try to drink water as much as possible. My problem is unbearable urge to urinate. Then very little amount of urine comes out. Is this possible something serious? It does seem to dissipate when I regain body weight.

Welcome to HCM. I'm sorry that you experience such symptoms. I will try to be as much informative as I can.

When your body is dehidrated, you have to drink a lot of fluids. With fluids, I don't mean only water, but you can buy over the counter Oral Rehidration Therapy Fluids (ORSs). The little amount of urine is expected in dehydration. I suppose the urine has a darker color than usual.

On the other hand, dehydration itself is a risk factor for urinary tract infections. If your symptoms are associated with burning sensation during urination and discomfort/pain in the abdominal area below the umbilicus then there is a higher suspicion that you might have urinary tract infection.

So I recommend to you drinking as much fluids as you can (with electrolytes). If the symptoms persist or are getting worse then beside the measurements mentioned above, you could start treatment with antibiotics like ciprofloxacin.

Finally, if even after the recommendations above you still have those symptoms, then you should do some workup: urine analysis with urine culture.

Feel free for additional questions. I wish you a good health
