HI. I got into a cheerleading accident years ago where I hit my head. Ever since then, my body has been acting funny. I am dizzy all of the time, sometimes it seems as if the room is spinning, and sometimes I even get sick. I've done some research, could my eight cranial nerve be damaged? And if so, is there treatment for that?
I don't think that it is a damage to the eight cranial nerve, because your symptoms are not typical of this disorder. In my opinion your symptoms are related to Benign Paroxismal Positional Vertigo, which is very common after a head trauma. It is related to the damage in the inner ear due to the head trauma. For this reason I recommend consulting with an ENT specialist and performing labyrinthine tests. There are different maneuvers, which can help improve your situation. Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
