What Causes Enlarged, Hard And Sore Breasts?

I ve had Mirena IUD for 4.5 yrs. A few weeks ago, my breasts were enlarged, hard, heavy, and sore. That went away after about 5 days. Now the same thing is happening. I took a home pregnancy test the last time (negative) AND I have just thought it was due to ovulation... though never has happened before.
