What Causes Fluttering Sensation In Chest And Light Headedness?

I occasionally feel a flutter or pounding on the left chest wall. No chest pain but recently got lightheaded during that brief episode. It will at times feel like a vibration, the feeling as if I had my cell phone in my shirt pocket and the phone is not there.

Hello,

Vibratory feeling in the chest is commonly seen with arrhythmia (rhythm disturbances in the heart). You have also developed lightheadedness. So we should also rule out hypertension. So better to consult a cardiologist, and get done blood pressure monitoring, ECG, 2d echo and Holter monitoring (24 hours continuous recording of ECG).

If all these are normal, then no need to worry about heart diseases. Sometimes undiagnosed stress and anxiety can also cause similar symptoms. So avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. You may need anxiolytic drugs (propranolol and flunarizine combination) too. Don't worry you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
