Hi there i am looking for answers regarding my heart. I am a 27 year old healthy eating man. I dont smoke but drink at weekends. I play sport and look after myself health wise. I am constantly worried about my heart however. I have palpitations and flutters and have done for some time. They come and go but generally happen at least once a day. My heart will flutter or have a big heart beat. I never experience any breathlessness or blackouts with this and it never impacts my sport but i am still concerned. When resting my heart rate is between 45 and 60 with a bp of around 120/80. However when i carry out simplr tasks like walking up a flight of stairs my heart beats out of my chest and my heart rate goes up to 130+ and it really frightens me. When playing football my heart rate can rise to 160+. Please can you help as to whether this is normal and why i get heart flutters almost daily? Thank you in advance Joel
In some young adults heart rate variability can be more than in older ones. In majority of cases there is no abnormality. But if you would like to be a 100% sure, I would like to advise you to have an ECG, then holter monitoring or Stress test done, also you will need thyroid function tests.
Hope I could help you
Wishing you good health
