My 9 year old did not have major symptoms of a concussion other than a bad headache that over a week a month or so back. He had been hit in the helmet the first time with a puck and banged his head on the boards the second time while he was playing hockey. We kept him out of hockey for a few weeks and after back in hockey this week he has now woken up in the middle of the night with a nose bleed. Should I be concerned?
this nose bleed is not related to his hit over head. nose bleed may be due to dry nasal mucosa being eroded or bleeding from LITTLES area . bleeding once can be observed if not heavy. if again u find a bleed, pinch the nose tightly and ask the child to breathe with mouth until it stops , next resorts are ice packs over nose , xylometazoline nasal drops or botroclot nasal drops.
