Hi, I am a 51 year old women who has gone through the memopause two years ago with no problems at all. About four weeks ago I started bleeding quite heavily with lighter loss for the following weeks? The bleeding has now stop. I also have really bad stomach and back pains as well. Other than this I am fit and well. I am five feet five and weigh about 11 stone.
Better to get evaluated for any type of postmenopausal bleeding as sometimes it can occur because of serious conditions also. The possible causes of your problem are: - Increased endometrial thickness - Reproductive hormone fluctuation - Local cause like cervical erosion, polyps, etc. - Rarely malignancies.
Please consult your gynecologist once, get examined and undergo an ultrasound, pap smear and endometrial biopsy. With this work up the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be planned accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
