What Causes Heavy Periods And Low Hemoglobin During Menopause?
I m going through menopause and I do not have the thyroid gland so I take 125 mcg levothyroxine. For about 2 and a half years, I ve been having heavy periods mixed with light ones. My hemoglobine is 10.8, in general, I feel tired. I m 52. Should I be concerned about having some pelvic problem?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Heavy bleeding is a normal feature in menopausal days. But in your case, I would suggest checking thyroid function test to confirm its normality and to judge adjustment in medicinal dosage. I would advise to Take rest during periods. Can take cap. CVP gynecologist 2 caps two to three times (to reduce blood flow). Syrup Dexorange 2 spoons twice before food and Tab Shell call D 500mg, one with break fast (all medications over the counter). In case of no relief in 2 months, consult your gynecologist. A gynecological check up at this stage of life is desired for.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
