Hi, my name is Alexis my doctor found high levels of ketones in my urine. They couldn't quite figure out what it was the test me for diabetes . I am not diabetic. I have sweet breath and urine. I also have no appetite . I have a lot of diabetic symptoms but not diabetic . I even took a blood glucose test level was 89. So it was normal. I see my Dr. Again next weekend but I want to atleast have possibilities in mind. Some one help please.
Following are cause of ketone in urine: Starvation, high protein and low carbhydrate diet, Prolonged vomiting, anorexia. Increase catabolism: Hyperthyroidism, fever
I would suggest to go for thyroid function test to rule out thyroid disease. Eat healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise.
Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.
Best regards, Dr. Sagar
