What Causes High Sgot And Sgpt Levels During Pregnancy?
i I am 34 yrs old, 8 weeks pregnant. I am taking Intralipd Serum -due to immunological problems (High NKs level) The same day I was taking the serum I did my blood tests and everything was OK a part from SGOT=118 and SGPT=369. Can you please tell me what might be the cause for such a result.
SGOT and SGPT are liver enzymes. The normal range for SGO and SGPT is 0-40 IU/L. The level of SGOT and SGPT are elevated in conditions which cause damage to the hepatocytes. Thus, the results suggest damage to the hepatocytes. I suggest you to consult your primary health provider to assess the liver function tests. The results of all liver function tests will determine which part of the biliary tract is involved other than hepatocytes. Further management includes finding the cause of hepatocyte damage. Viral infections, toxins and drugs are common causes of hepatocyte damage.
