What Causes High Sugar And Ketone Levels Before Periods While On Insulin Pump?
I am a type one diabetic have just gone onto an insulin pump having a right pickle think i maybe premenstrual sugard high and ketones three and have a brown discharge feeling very sorry for myself previously before i went on the pump had high sugars and high ketones until day ofmy cycle started why? its really frustrating and very hard work

Pre mentrual raise in blood sugars and ketones are due to the stress of Pre Menstruation . Stress of any kind releases the hormone Cortisol which has an action opposite to that of Insulin and hence the blood sugars and ketones raise as there occurs a relative Insulin deficiency.
You need to increase your Insulin dosage during your prementrual and first few days of menstruation . I advise to consult a Diabetologist and ask him for Insulin Dose titration during premenstrual period
