General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you and your son seem to be suffering from a disease called osteopetrosis. It is a bone disease that makes bones abnormally dense and prone to breakage (fracture) and it is an inherited condition (runs in family).

It can cause fractures, low blood cell production, and loss of cranial nerve function causing blindness, deafness, and/or facial nerve paralysis. Affected individuals may experience frequent infections of teeth and the bone in the jaw.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
