What Causes Lack Of Sleep?

I can t sleep I m not a drug user and haven t been drinking. I have a heart condition artificial mitral valve and icd for arrhythmia. It has been 4 days with only 2 to 3 hrs of sleep. When I am able to fall asleep for short periods I wake up with terrible night sweats and the shakes. I don t feel mentally tired just physically and can t seem to get to sleep. I have tried relaxing taking a shower physical activity etc. any ideas? could this be related to my heart problems?

Hi sir /madam
welcome to health care magic ,

I can certainly understand your concern and difficulty in falling asleep, I could find out there is a possibility that your sleep disturbances might be due to the heart problem and also other symptoms like night sweats and shakes.

you have mentioned that you are mentally normal or doesn't feel any tiredness but there is a possibility that if you have a physical problem , it would certainly affect your mental health.so I can suggest you to take benzodiazepines like zolpidem for brief period ie about 7- 10 days if you find difficulty with initiation of your sleep,if you are not very sure about your sleep pattern you can start clonazepam, which can regulate the pattern.you can certainly find marked difference in 1-2 weeks.

i would suggest you to follow some sleep hygiene techniques like , maintain regular sleeping hours, avoid coffee or tea after 4 pm, avoid alcohol if any, avoid heavy exercise just before going to bed, and restrict your bed room only for sleep purpose . please consult your psychiatrist for further help

please post your further questions if any
Thank you
